La giornalista di moda J.J. Martin ha lanciato un sito di moda vintage, LaDoubleJ.com. J.J. Martin collezionea abiti e accessori vintage da più di 15 anni. E’ editor-at-large per il magazine Wallpaper ed editor per il magazine WSJ del Wall Street Journal.

LaDoubleJ.com consente agli utenti non solo di acquistare abiti vintage e gioielli, ma anche di scoprire le vite di una serie di donne che vivono in Italia e che lavorano nella moda, nell’arte, nel design, nell’architettura e nel food.

Fashion journalist J.J. Martin has launched a vintage fashion site, LaDoubleJ.com. She has been collecting vintage clothes and accessories for more than 15 years. She is currently editor-at-large at Wallpaper* Magazine and is a contributor at the Wall Street Journal magazine. The new vintage site allows users not only to shop vintage clothes and jewelry, but also to discover the lives of a series of Italy-based women working in fashion, art, design, architecture and food (see the section called Legendary Ladies of Milan).

 

Per celebrare il lancio di LaDoubleJ.com, Martin ha inoltre selezionato 20 pezzi jewelry vintage firmati da Ugo Correani, che saranno disponibili su mytheresa.com a partire da febbraio.

“Mi piace quasi tutto del vintage. Anche l’odore. Mi piace il brivido della caccia e la sensazione di serendipità quando si trova qualcosa di meraviglioso che non potevi nemmeno immaginare esistitesse e che non hai mai saputo di dover avere. Odio i dettami della moda, odio i negozi dalle dimensioni di supermercati e odio vedere le persone vestite tutte allo stesso modo” ha detto in un’intervista a Because London.

“Ho scoperto la moda vintage, quando vivevo a New York ed era molto povera. La mia compagna di stanza Monty ed io scoprimmo questo paradiso selvaggio e splendido del  fine settimana noto come il mercato delle pulci di Chelsea, dove potevamo trovare abiti favolosi a 25 $ e pellicce a 40 $. Ci andavamo ogni fine settimana”.

“All’inizio, trovare cose vintage era solo un divertimento. Non avevo idea di chi fossero i designer importanti, non guardavo mai la costruzione di un abito o se aveva dei buchi. Ora sono come un falco e sono una mercanteggiatrice agguerrita“, ha spiegato.

Nella stessa intervista JJ Martin ha poi  svelato i suoi trucchi per trovare cose meravigliose “Andare spesso. Andare in tutto il mondo. Non aspettatevi di trovare qualsiasi cosa. Se si va con un obiettivo in testa, si tornerà a casa molto delusi”.

 

“I love almost everything about vintage. Even the smell. I love the thrill of the hunt and the rush of serendipity when you find something amazing that you couldn’t imagine ever existed and that you never knew you had to have. I hate fashion dictates, I hate supermarket-sized stores and I hate seeing everyone in the same clothing” she said in an interview with Because London.

“I first discovered vintage fashion when I was living in New York and was very poor. My roommate Monty and I discovered this wild, wonderful weekend paradise known as the Chelsea flea market, where we could find fabulous clothes for $25 and fur coats for $40. We went every single weekend”.

“At the beginning, finding vintage was really just for fun. I had no concept of important designers, I never looked at the construction or if it had any holes in it. Now I’m like a hawk and I’m a fierce bargainer”, she explained.

JJ Martin revealed her tips and tricks for finding wonderful things ” Go often. Go everywhere. Don’t expect to find anything. If you go with a goal in your head, you will leave very disappointed”.
