C’è una ragazza sarda che vive a Barcellona. Ama i gatti, il tè, il mare e il sole.
Ha sviluppato una sana dipendenza dalla carta, dal vintage e dai libri.

Perché nasce Manuche, Postcards from…?
Manuche – Postcards from nasce dalla ricerca di una cartolina da inviare alla mia famiglia. Mi ero appena trasferita a Barcellona e ogni giorno percorrevo la città in lungo e in largo, macinando chilometri e sempre con la macchina fotografica al collo. Desideravo inviare una cartolina alla mia famiglia ma nessuna di quelle presenti nei vari negozietti rispecchiava l’idea che io mi ero fatta della città, da lì l’idea di creare io stessa delle cartoline partendo dalle mie fotografie. Un giorno, per puro caso, la cartolina è diventata un notebook…

Quali materiali usi per le tue creazioni?
Carta riciclata di diversi tipi e diverse grammature e cotone per la rilegatura, ma da un po’ di tempo è nata la voglia di sperimentare altri materiali e altri tipi di stampa.

A cosa stai lavorando al momento?
E’ in fase di elaborazione una nuova collezione di notebooks totalmente dedicata alla Sardegna, diversa da quelle a cui ho lavorato sino ad ora, ma sono ancora in fase sperimentale!

Dove trovi ispirazione?
L’ispirazione nasce da tutto ciò che nel corso della mia vita mi ha affascinato e che su cui si è costruito il mio gusto: il vecchio cinema, dettagli dei grandi romanzi dell’800-900, le illustrazioni scientifiche del secolo scorso, i mercatini e le botteghe d’antiquariato.

Cosa collezioni?
Ovviamente cartoline antiche e vecchie fotografie!

5 pezzi vintage nel tuo armadio
Aiuto! Allora… Delle scarpe stile “Oxford” di mia madre che credo abbiano più di 20 anni, bellissime, poi una camicetta con abbottonatura sulla schiena che credo risalga agli anni ’70, perfetta con un paio di jeans a vita alta, e al dito una bella fede sarda che più vintage non si può!
Manca il quinto pezzo, mannaggia…posso far passare la mia Olympus Om-10?

Di quali abitudini passate e forse perse senti di più la nostalgia?
Le belle lettere scritte a mano. Rivelo un segreto, il mio compagno mi ha conquistata così…

5 cose da fare a Barcellona
Non elencherò le cose che tutti farebbero andando a Barcellona, come visitare Parc Guell, la Pedrera ecc. Oltre i suoi monumenti il bello è respirare l’aria di questa meravigliosa città di cui sono totalmente innamorata.
1. Camminare fino a sentire male ai piedi tutta la città vecchia, percorrerla in lungo e in largo perdendosi fra i viottoli fino ad arrivare al mare.
2. Mangiare almeno una volta al Can Mano, trattoria storica della città nel cuore della Barceloneta, dove si può gustare pesce freschissimo a un ottimo prezzo godendo di un ambiente unico.
3. Visitare le esposizioni del CCCB, il centro di cultura contemporanea. Ogni giorno si può trovare qualcosa di interessante.
4. Se si ama il flamenco o si vuole assistere a un vero spettacolo di flamenco bisogna fare un salto al Jazzsi il venerdì sera, al Raval. Attenzione a non arrivare troppo tardi o sarà impossibile entrare!
5. Fare un salto a Gracia, barrio fuori dalle rotte turistiche, vera è propria bomboniera con ritmi da piccolo paese ed estremamente vivo dal punto di vista artistico.

Why did you start “Manuche, Postcards from…”?
My idea for “Manuche – Postcards from…” came when I was looking for a postcard to send to my family. I had just moved to Barcelona, and every day I walked the city far and wide, covering many miles and always with my camera around my neck. I wanted to send a postcard to my family, but none of those in the various shops reflected the idea that I had of the city. This gave me the idea of creating postcards myself based on my photographs. One day, by chance, these postcards became a notebook…

What materials do you use to make your own creations? Recycled paper of different types and weights and cotton for the binding, but for a while now I’ve wanted to experiment with other materials and other types of printing.

What are you working on right now?
I’m developing a new collection of notebooks totally dedicated to Sardinia, something different from what I have been working on so far, but they are still at an experimental stage!

Where do you find inspiration?
My inspiration comes from everything that has fascinated me throughout my life and everything that is behind my sense of style: old cinema, certain details from the great novels of the 19th and 20th centuries , 20th-century scientific illustrations, local markets and antique shops.

What do you collect?
Obviously antique postcards and old photographs!

Tell us about 5 vintage pieces in your closet.
Help! Well, a beautiful pair of my mother’s ”Oxford” shoes which I think are about 20 years old, then a blouse with a button placket on the back which I think dates back to the 70s and is perfect with a pair of high waist jeans, and this beautiful Sardinian wedding ring on my finger which couldn’t be any more vintage!
I’m missing a fifth piece, damn… can I include my Olympus OM-10?

What past or maybe lost habits do you feel most nostalgic about?
Beautiful handwritten letters. I’ll tell you a little secret: that’s how my boyfriend seduced me…

What is your dream of happiness?
I hope that everything stays as it is.

Give us 5 things to do in Barcelona
I will not list all the things that everyone does when they go to Barcelona, like visiting Parc Guell, La Pedrera etc. Besides its monuments, the best thing is to take in the air of this wonderful city which I’m totally in love with.
1. Walk through the old town until your feet hurt, walk up and down, getting lost down the alleyways until you reach the sea.
2. Eat at least once at Can Mano, a historic restaurant in the heart of Barceloneta, where you can eat the freshest seafood at a great price while enjoying a unique atmosphere.
3. Visit the exhibitions at the CCCB, the Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre. You can find something interesting there every day.
4. If you love flamenco or you want to see a real flamenco show, you have to visit Jazzsi on a Friday night, in the Raval. Don’t arrive too late or you won’t get in!
5. Take a trip to Gracia, a district off the beaten track, it’s a real gem with the pace of a small town but extremely lively from an artistic point of view.
